“This young spanish quartet impresses with its beautiful ensemble sound. At times fiery, then tender and transparent. Like a blank canvas they let themselves be overwhelmed by the music” (Jury of Dutch Classical Talent)
Osimun Quartet is a young group born in 2022 and composed of four Spanish saxophonists, who aim to express their own language through chamber music. Its members Diego Dávila (soprano saxophone), Fátima Alcázar (alto saxophone), Inés González (tenor saxophone) and Ricard Martínez (baritone saxophone) are currently based in Cologne (Germany), where they receive lessons from José Luis Estellés, and Maastricht. Their continuous search for growth and ambition to further develop as chamber musicians has led them to recently join the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSKA), where they receive lessons from some of the most influential figures in the chamber music scene, including Quatuor Ébène and Eberhard Feltz among others. Furthermore, they are also included among the ensembles constituting the European Chamber music Academy (ECMA), which main teachers are Johannes Meissl and Patrick Jüdt. They have been recently selected to take part in the next 2024/25 and 2025/26 Musethica seasons.
Despite the ensemble's youth, they have already performed in some of the most prestigious venues in Europe such as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven, Bijloke in Ghent, Tauber Philarmonie in Germany, NedPhO-Koepel in Amsterdam, Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht or Palace of Culture in Târgu Mureş (Romania). They have also achieved recent successes, such as becoming finalist of the prestigious contest Dutch Classical Talent for the 2025 edition; as finalists, they have been awarded a tour of 15 concerts throughout the Netherlands (between January and February 2025), and subsequently, the grand final will be held in June 2025. Among other accomplishments are the First prize in the Storioni Competition 2023, Dörken Stiftung 2023 and also reaching the finals in renowned competitions like the Grachten Festival 2023 in Amsterdam, Juventudes Musicales of Spain, Big Little Music Competition in Ghent, Classicspark, and Music Awards Maastricht 2022. Besides, they have received twice (2023, 2024) a scholarship from Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland.
Their main ambition within chamber music is to bring a new colour and setting to the classical music through his own transcriptions, while at the same time trying to broaden and versatilise the original repertoire through direct contact and work with contemporary composers.
In addition, while developing and evolving in the world of chamber music as performers, some of its members combine this work with teaching at various music conservatories in Germany.
Their upcoming Agenda includes several concerts in renamed music festivals in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.
